The event is timed to coincide with the opening of the exhibition "Fine Dining: Stories of Food in Ancient China"
On 2 April from 11:00 to 12:00 Moscow time, the BRICS+ Information and Cultural Media Centre will host a press conference by Elena Gagarina, General Director of the Moscow Kremlin Museums. She will talk about the exhibition, which will open on 11 April. The event is organised by the TV BRICS International Media Network, the Moscow Kremlin Museums and the All-Russian State Library for Foreign Literature named after M. I. Rudomino.
Gao Zheng, Vice-Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, Director General of the National Museum of China, will make a welcoming speech. The moderator will be Ksenia Komissarova, Editor-in-Chief of the TV BRICS International Media Network.
As Gagarina noted, the upcoming exhibition "Fine Dining: Stories of Food in Ancient China" continues the cooperation between the Moscow Kremlin Museums and the National Museum of China.
"The exhibition 'Russian Feast – Traditional Foods, Drinks and the Art of Table Setting' from the collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums recently concluded in the Chinese capital. Both projects address the most important part of human culture – gastronomic traditions," she emphasised.
According to Gagarina, the exposition presents 145 precious exhibits: Neolithic artefacts, utensils that have preserved their original appearance for centuries, as well as exquisite articles of everyday and ceremonial use, including tableware, pictorial scrolls, costumes, musical instruments and sets for table games, which became an integral part of Chinese feasts.
The exhibition will be held as part of the official programme of the "cross-cultural" Years of Culture between Russia and China 2024-2025, announced at the level of the governments of the two countries.
The live broadcast of the press conference will start at 11:00 (Moscow time) and will be available on Russian version of TV BRICS website on the day of the event.
